Milton Keynes celebrates it's 40th anniversary - having been designated as a new town in January 1967. Here the city's own professional orchestra launches fesivities which feature another English great.... the 150th anniverary of Edward Elgar's birth, which is marked here with his great masterpiece, the Celo Concerto, performed by the distinguished cellist Raphael Wallfisch. Young musicians from Milton Keynes Music Service will be performing with and alongside the Orchestra for Elgar's introduction and Allegro.
