A Festive Feast

Milton Keynes City Orchestra’s Symphonic Brass will be returning to Woburn Church with a festive feast of music for the season. The church is an impressive gothic structure which is ideal for the bright resonance of these brass instruments and, under the direction of Sian Edwards, musicians from the Orchestra will be joined by singers from the Danesborough Chorus in an evening of family festivities - including one of the first opportunities to join in singing carols at the start of advent. Summer Serenade

A charming and contrasting evening of music for string orchestra, presented by the Orchestra’s Principal Conductor Hilary Davan Wetton. Mozart’s mastery crafted the serenade as a form of entertainment for the listener that made high demands on the composer’s artistic skills – his legacy has inspired many a composer whilst Eine kleine Nachtmusik must be the most popular of all his works…

Song and dance music is all around us everyday… from polka to pop! This toe tapping, hip wiggling and interactive concert introduces a variety of song and dance music including Romanian gypsy dances by Bartok, a hoedown for cowboys from Copland’s Rodeo, and a minuet and songs by Mozart.

A Soldier's Tale

Warm up for the festive season with this interactive family concert… The Soldier’s Tale began life as a Russian folk tale and the composer, Stravinsky, uses clarinet, bassoon, cornet, trombones, violin, double bass, percussion and narrators, to present a wonderful musical story. This story features marches and dances - waltzes and tangos – ragtime and song.

Carnival of the Animals

Join with musicians from the orchestra on an exploration into animal territory of music and rhyming verses. You’ll meet some unusual animals – a dancing elephant performed by a double bass, a lyrical cello elegantly presenting a swan, the Royal March of the Lion, fossils (!) and even pianists – clumsy students practising their scales!

The Hit Squad

The Hit Squad is an exciting team of brass and percussion players from Milton Keynes City Orchestra – including trumpets, French horn, trombone and tuba; xylophones, marimbas, drums, cymbals and lots more percussion instruments which are played by being "beaten" and "hit". They will be returning to Stantonbury to present an unforgettable afternoon of your favourite music – a mix of film, jazz and Latin numbers which show off the musicians and the instruments, including the James Bond Theme, Limehouse Blues and much more to involve the family in fun and foot tapping!
