This concert opens with a short entry to the world of minimalistic music from living composer Pärt, his Fratres piece is widely admired.

Playing the enigmatic Schumann Cello Concerto is Laura van der Heijden, awarded BBC Young Musician in 2012 at just 15 years of age. MKCO is delighted to welcome such a huge young talent to MK.

The finale is Beethoven’s Pastoral Symphony which encapsulates his love of nature and is a beautiful expression of country life in all forms.

During this first concert of The Venue series, the MK Community Foundation will be presenting the Christopher Hopkinson Memorial Bursary to the winner of their 2017 award for musical excellence. MKCO is delighted to partner with MK Community Foundation to find a talented winner.
