The High Sheriff’s Concert
7.30pm on Sunday 7th September 2008
Verdi  Overture Nabucco
Beethoven  Piano Concerto no.3, Op.37 in C minor
Tchaikovsky Symphony no. 5, op.64 in E minor

“Milton Keynes City Orchestra season’s new starts with a celebration in honour of the High Sherriff of Buckingham, Peter Thorogood. The programme has all the verve and passion required to invigorate us after the summer holidays, with Verdi’s marvellous Nabucco Overture and the initially dark but finally triumphant Fifth Symphony of Tchaikovsky, which is particularly special to me.
We are thrilled to invite a young soloist from the local Milton Keynes area, Craig Greene, to play Beethoven’s dramatic Third Piano Concerto. Craig, who attended Stowe School, will be well-known to many in Milton Keynes as a very accomplished trumpeter as well as pianist with the Music Service Symphony Orchestra.” Sian Edwards

From The High Sheriff of Buckinghamshire, Peter Thorogood:

“I am honoured that the opening concert of the season will be performed in the
Presence of His Royal Highness the Duke of Kent under the baton of the new
Principal Conductor Sian Edwards, and will be the debut of Milton Keynes
own Craig Greene. The concert is dedicated to thanking all those who give their
unstinting support to charitable works throughout our community, and is in aid of
two Buckinghamshire Charities - Milton Keynes’s Community Foundation &
The Buckinghamshire Foundation “
